Cooperation gradually developing
In the metropolitan International Business Center on December 26, a regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, companies and firms of the two countries working in areas such as the economy, the banking and financial sector, trade, industry, investment, customs, fuel and energy complex, automotive, transport and transport communications, agriculture, water management, small business and private entrepreneurship, tourism and air transportation.
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, commission co-chairman Rustam Azimov stressed that the cooperation between our countries is consistently developing in all spheres, including in the economic sector, an important legal basis of which are the agreements reached during meetings of heads of two states. In particular, held in November 2014 the official visit of President Islam Karimov to the Republic of Kazakhstan contributed to the rise of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
The legal base of Uzbek-Kazakh relations covers virtually all areas of cooperation, which is based on the Treaty of eternal friendship, which was concluded in 1998, and the Strategic Partnership Agreement, signed in June 2013. Also, the Strategy of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2007-2016, there are free trade agreements, mutual promotion and protection of investments, avoidance of double taxation.
Kazakhstan is one of the important trade partners of Uzbekistan, bilateral trade relations are characterized by steady growth. Due to the mutual benefit of trade between our countries is growing dynamic pace. For example, in 2013 the trade turnover increased by 14 per cent to more than 3.2 billion US dollars, and for the past nine months of this year has exceeded $ 3 billion.
However, expanding the scale of investment cooperation. Many Kazakhstani businessmen show great interest in the market of Uzbekistan, a joint venture. Today in Uzbekistan there are 180 enterprises with participation of Kazakh investments, 4 firms and companies have opened representative offices in Kazakhstan in our country.
At the event, it noted that the parties have ample opportunity to display cooperation to a new level. The sides discussed issues of further increasing the volume of trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, extending its nomenclature, creating favorable conditions for cargo transportation, development of partnerships between business entities.
- Growing from year to year the trade turnover between our countries demonstrates the dynamic development of trade and economic relations - said Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, co-chairman Bakhytzhan Sagintayev. - The current negotiations contribute to their further expansion and strengthening.
Another key area is the expansion of bilateral relations mutually beneficial partnership in the field of transport and communications, in particular, the use of the huge transit potential of our countries. Important in this regard is the provision of reciprocal tariff preferences in the organization and delivery of transit cargoes, including rail transport, which in turn will increase the competitiveness of transport corridors, and use them more efficiently.
The meeting thoroughly reviewed the implementation of agreements reached during meetings of heads of two states. The parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing cooperation. They discussed issues of further strengthening of ties in various spheres of economy, in particular, transport and communications, transit, air transport, oil and gas and others.
